Lodging in University of Washington residence halls is available for conference delegates. Residence halls are within a 5- to 10-minute walk of most meeting areas on campus. Most rooms are furnished with twin beds and some have views overlooking Lake Washington. Bed linen, towels, soap and drinking cups are provided. Rooms share community bath facilities. Attractive lounges, patios and other gathering areas are found throughout the halls. Laundry facilities are available in each building. Pay telephones, television lounges and kitchenettes with ranges or microwave ovens are located on most floors. Residence halls offer a smoke-free environment. Smoking is prohibited in all public areas of the residence halls and is discouraged in private sleeping rooms. Request for housing must be received by May 30, 1997. After this date, rooms are on a space-available basis only. To request housing, please complete the UW Conference Housing Reservation Form and send by post mail to the address provided on the form. If you have any questions please call Conference Housing and Special Services at (206) 543-7636

Fixed Dates Package Plan

Housing and meal service is offered as a package plan for fixed dates. The package includes six nights of lodging (on June 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and July 1), six breakfasts and five lunches, a nonrefundable $10 reservation fee and applicable sales tax. No credit is given for a shorter stay or missed meals. When available, early arrival and late departure days may be added to the package at an additional charge. See the UW Conference Housing Reservation Form for details.

Meal Service

Meals included in the package plan are served in a dining room reserved for conference guests. Whatever your prearranged board plan may be, you will find a selection of carefully prepared items offered cafeteria-style. All meals offer a meatless selection, although other dietary restrictions cannot be accommodated. A strict vegan meal is not available.

Children

UW residence halls are designed for adult usage, and the facilities are not childproof. Children are welcome if supervised at all times. Adults are expected to assume full responsibility for the actions of their accompanying children. Children under nine years old may bring a sleeping bag to use on the floor of a fully occupied adult room (at no additional charge) and will be charged half the adult rate for meal service. Children under nine years old who occupy a bed will be charged the full bed rate. Children nine years and older must occupy a bed and are charged the full package rate. A maximum of two children under 9 years old and two adults will be permitted in a room. Cots, cribs and extra bedding are not available.

Parking

Overnight parking is available near the residence halls. The current daily rate is $5 Monday through Friday and $2.50 Saturday. Rates are subject to change without notice. Availability is limited and not guaranteed. More information regarding parking will be sent with your confirmation.

Payment

Delegates are required to send full payment with the housing reservation form by May 30, 1997. Please see the UW Conference Housing Reservation Form for payment options. Purchase orders should include instructions for initiation of payment. Arrangements must be made in advance if purchase orders are to be presented on arrival. The University of Washington charges $18 for all returned checks. Housing payment must be separate from registration payment.

Confirmation

Once the campus housing reservation is received, you will be sent a confirmation identifying your check-in location, along with travel directions to campus. Check-in is 2 p.m. each day unless the confirmation states otherwise. Check-out time is 11 a.m. daily.
